Alternative Process Photography by New York Fine Art Photographer Jill Enfield After 34 years in New York City, in 2014 my family and I moved 50 miles up the Hudson River to the town of Newburgh. As much as I loved, and still do love the city, I was feeling like I needed more outdoor space and privacy versus sharing elevators and hallways with other apartment dwellers. We found a converted gunpowder mill located across the street from a park with hawks, bunnies, groundhogs (we like them), deer (we also like them) and more. I had a beautiful darkroom built, both Richard and I have our own office space, and we put solar panels on our roof. We can work in our offices, on the porch or out by the pool. I am in heaven! Besides having the privilege of teaching workshops in Maine, Norway, Connecticut and Florida in 2016, (dates below), I will also be offering workshops in my home studio for 1-4 students at a time. There will be many choices to make, as you can stay with us (and our 4 cats) or stay at a nearby hotel, motel or bed and breakfast. You can learn darkroom developing and printing, beginning Photoshop, or anything in-between. If you look through my book: Jill Enfield’s Guide to Photographic Alternative Processes, you will see that there is a lot to learn. A list of techniques is below and I will be happy to design a workshop around what you are interested in.
